Hello Habitat Supporters!!!
As we enter the next few years of operations, even at a time when Ontario and Canada are experiencing one of the worst affordable housing crises in history, we are extremely excited about the possibilities of affordable housing in Sania Lambton.. Habitat Sarnia/Lambton continues to do our best to assist families who are experiencing homeownership difficulties and to break the cycle of poverty. In 2025, we will be building something new and innovative for Habitat, five tiny row houses. Applications are now open and can be found right here on our website.
Since its founding in 1976, Habitat for Humanity International has helped over 20 million people worldwide. Locally, since 1994, we have completed almost 80 homes and helped hundreds more through our Habitat Handyman program. With a little help, we all have the potential to stand on our own. It is an incredible experience to help homeowners build or improve a place to live, and then see how they are able to build a better life for themselves and their families.
In 2016, we launched the Habitat Handyman program. In 2023, we served more than 500 families through this program. The focus for 2024 is to continue to assist in homeowner renovations for low-income families in addition to a mainstream pricing line. A new Lawn Care service was added to Handyman in 2022. For all your grass-cutting needs put your trust in Habitat Sarnia/Lambton.
The Deconstruct program launched in 2016 and is still going strong. For those who are renovating, please keep us in mind as our team can go in and salvage kitchen and bathroom cabinets, doors, windows, or anything that can then be resold at the ReStore. Everyone in the Sarnia/Lambton area has access to these programs and we encourage you to use this valuable service when considering home improvement projects.
We continue to accept scrap metal and e-waste, batteries and wire at the Restore; these popular programs continue into 2025. August of 2019 brought the new collection area for your empty liquor, beer bottles and pop cans and the response has been fantastic. We believe in actively doing all we can to reduce the footprint on our environment and help the community with our convenient drop-off program now in place going forward in 2024 and beyond.
In the last quarter of 2019, we launched the Habitat retail branded section within the Restore where you can pick up some cool swag for you and your family. Our newest version in 2024 is “GIVE WHERE YOU LIVE” branded merchandise. We continue to look for new ways to support our build programs and help local families experience home ownership. Do you have a car to donate? We have a program for that too! Visit that section through our website menu to find out more.
Our Restore continues to see approximately 7000 people come through our doors on a monthly basis. This has led the Sarnia store to become one of the best small market ReStores in the country in the last number of years. Please don’t forget we do delivery of purchased goods from the ReStore for a moderate fee. Our success is Sarnia’s success. This community is responsible for the donations of the goods and in turn, buying the goods to support our operations and mission, and we are truly grateful. At the end of the day we continue to strive to raise as many dollars, to build as many homes, and help as many families as we possible can.
Please help us help them…
