Habitat Handyman

EXPANDED HABITAT HANDYMAN SERVICES!
Now helping all Sarnia/Lambton homeowners

Habitat Handyman service launched in 2016 supported by The Country of Lambton. The goal: provide low cost home improvements for low income homeowners.  The pilot program's success led to continued County funding in 2017 and is now available to all homeowners in Sarnia/Lambton.

While Habitat for Humanity Sarnia/Lambton gives preference to low-income families, a second pricing stream now exists.

How It Works?

  1. Anyone who wishes our Handyman services must apply (either on-line or by completing a hard-copy application).
  2. If a homeowner wishes to be considered for low-income pricing s/he must provide proof of income (previous year's CRA Notice of Assessment).  Income must fall within the HILS tables. *More information on this below.
  3. Our Habitat Handyman will book an appointment to visit the home to evaluate the scope of work required.
  4. If the work falls within our capabilities*, then our Handyman will provide the homeowner with a written estimate of the materials (if applicable) and the labour required to complete the job.
  5. The homeowner will sign and approve the estimate, then return it to Habitat.
  6. On receipt of a deposit, Habitat will purchase any materials required and schedule a project start date.
  7. Our Handyman team goes to work!
  8. The Health & Safety of our staff and volunteer team is very important to us. Please see our Health & Safety Policy for details.
  9. On completion of the job, an invoice for the balance owing will be sent to the homeowner for payment (30-day terms).
