Support received for upcoming Habitat Youth Program (HYP!) Build!
NOVA Chemicals donates $5,000

The Board of Directors, staff and volunteers at Habitat for Humanity Sarnia/Lambton would like to thank NOVA Chemicals Canada Ltd for their generous donation of $5,000.  These funds will be directed to our third Habitat Youth Program (HYP!) Build, which begins this September on Alfred Street, in Sarnia's south end.  When complete, this whole-home renovation will become home to Danica, Devon and their three children.

Faith Build completion celebrated!
Dedication Ceremony - August 22, 2015

More than 100 people showed up to help celebrate the completion of the Faith Build!  Jaon, his son, Adam and his daughter, Evy joyfully accepted the keys at a moving ceremony on Saturday, August 22, 2015.  This marked the first time the entire faith community had been approached to build a house rather than just one denomination.  More than 20 churches participted - from Anglican, Roman Catholic, Presbyterian, United, Baptist and Evangelical churches as well at the Sarnia Hindu Cultural Society.  Thank you to all of the volunteers who raised funds and built the house.  You all did a fantastic job!  Thank you also to our partners - All Weather Windows, Mitten, CMHC, The Home Depot, Blackburn Radio, The Walter J. Blackburn Foundation and the Habitat for Humanity Sarnia/Lambton ReStore.

Festival of Good Things / The Run of Exploding Colour

The 3rd annual Festival of Good Things is coming to the Point Lands at Sarnia Bay Marina!  A new feature to the Festival this year is The Run of Exploding Colour!  This is the funnest 5k you will ever run!  The emphasis here is on fun as runners get dusted with colour at stations throughout the course.  Participants are encouraged to collect pledges and all funds raised will go towards building a home for a deserving family here in Sarnia/Lambton!

The ReStore is looking for a Full Time ReStore Assistant - APPLICATION DEADLINE EXTENDED!

The ReStore collects donations of good, re-saleable household goods and building materials and sells them to the general public.  The funds raised are used to pay the administrative costs and support the building program of Habitat for Humanity in Sarnia and Lambton County.
Scope of Work:  This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week, in a Monday to Saturday rotation.
Under the direction of the ReStore Manager, the ReStore Assistant is responsible for both warehouse and general duties to assist with the operation of the store.  From time to time, the incumbent may also be requird to assist with donation pick upand to drive the ReStore truck.
Requirements:  The job is demanding and required a physically fit individual, able to move large furniture and appliances with assistance.  ReStore personnel are the faces of Habitat for Humanity to the public.  As such, the successful candidate will have excellent people skills, be clean and neat in appearance and have a strong desire to be a team player.  Attention to detail and accurate record-keeping skills are also required.  The successful candidate will have a valid driver's licence and clean 3-year Driver's Abstract, with a minimum of 3 years experience driving a 14-foot or larger cube truck.
