Welcome

Habitat for Humanity is an international, non-profit, non-governmental, faith-based organization dedicated to eliminating poverty housing and to making adequate, affordable housing a matter of conscience and action.

Habitat for Humanity invites people from a broad spectrum of social, ethnic, religious and economic backgrounds to work in partnership with us to build both homes and hope for families in need.

Habitat Explained

This three minute animation will help you understand who we are, what we do and how we do it!

What's New At Habitat

Build Update!
#DawkinsHYP / #HYPBuildSL

Flooring installation begins on January 28 with Team Depot taking over!  Thanks to our sponsor The Home Depot Canada Foundation and the staff at The Home Depot in Sarnia for all their help!

Things are coming together quickly at the site - after the flooring is in, we will be painting the final coat on the walls, installing the kitchen cabinets and then putting all the finishing touches on!  Soon, all that will be left to do is the clean-up, landscaping and the sidewalk!

We finally have more pics!  The photo gallery is being updated with lots more photos!  Sorry for the delay in getting the photos up!  Check out the pics in the gallery,on our Facebook page or on our Pinterest page!

The ReStore - #HabitatReStoreSarnia / @ReStoreSarnia

It was another fantastic year for the ReStore!  Thank you so much to our donors and customers for making our ReStore the top performing small-market ReStore in Canada!  An even bigger thanks to all our volunteers!  We couldn't do what we do without the dedication and support of our volunteers!  When you are in the store, be sure to thank a volunteer!  They really do a fantastic job!

Faith in Action
Coming soon!

Through the Faith in Action Program, our goal is to reconnect (& re-energize) with those of faith in our community.  Reaching out to faith groups of all denominations & religions, our porgram is aimed at engaging all in the spirit of advocacy & action.  In the spring of 2015, we will begin our inaugural Faith in Action build, bringing churches together from throughout the Sarnia & Lambton area to build a home for a deserving family in Sarnia.  Our aim is to bring 14 - 15 churches on board for this multi-denomination project with each church taking ownership of one build day in our construction schedule.  A team from each church comprised of 12 - 18 participants (aged 16 & above) will undertake all construction activities that do not require skilled contractors.  Sound interesting?  Reach out to Sarah or Heather for more details!

Volunteer Opportunities

Are you a student looking to complete your 40 hour volunteer requirement for highschool?  Are you a retiree with extra time on your hands, wanting something fun to do?  Are you someone who is looking for new experiences?  Why not volunteer at the ReStore?  Our volunteers have a great time at the ReStore, helping customers, processing donations and working in the shop to get the donations ready for the floor.  No retail experience is required - we will teach you everything you need to know!  If you have a few hours a week to spare, fill our our online volunteer registration form and set up an orientation date!  We'd love to see you in the ReStore!
