Habitat for Humanity Sarnia/Lambton (HFHS/L) has once again surpassed their goal in
this year’s Coldest Night of the Year, a Winterrific Fundraising Event.
On Saturday, February 25th, over 220 people braved the chilly air of the Sarnia Bay water to help raise money
to build two new homes in Sarnia in 2023. This was the 2nd year that HFHS/L hosted one of the
national fundraising walks put on by Blue Sea Foundation out of Kitchener. Over 180 events took
place across Canada this year with a national goal of $12,000,000. At the end of the day, a total of
$12,400,051 was raised for 182 Canadian charities. Locally with a goal of $40,000, HFHS/L was
thrilled to shoot past their goal and raise $51,597. Money raised this year will be used to build two
safe and affordable homes in 2023 on Emma Street in Sarnia.
“We were so happy to see such a strong turnout for our event this year. Members of Sarnia/Lambton
rose to the occasion again to help raise funds for our event and our build program. We want to thank
all of the local businesses including Finch Lincoln, Smith Funeral Home and Family Centre, Classic
Granite and Marble, Bluewater Home Hardware, & Carpenters Union Local 1256 for their support and
everyone who helped make this year’s event such a big success.” – David Waters CEO
